The Bikaner-Guwahati Express has derailed near Jalpaiguri-Maynaguri in West Bengal. As per railway officials, three passengers are feared dead and more than 10 injured when 12 coaches of Bikaner-Guwahati Express train derailed and overturned near Dohomoni in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district. Rescue operations are undergoing at the incident spot. 

The passenger train was going from Patna to Guwahati and derailed soon after it crossed Maynaguri. Alipurduar DRM, SP & DM all rushed to the spot. A high-level Railway Safety inquiry has been ordered in the Guwahati-Bikaner Express 15633 derailment as per the Indian Railways.  

The accident occurred around 5 PM in an area under Alipurduar division of Northeast Frontier Railway, an NFR spokesperson said in Guwahati. The accident occurred more than 90 km from Alipurduar Junction, he added. “An accident relief train with a medical team is on way to the spot. We are awaiting further details,” the spokesperson said.
